Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, was a great saint and reformer. He was born in 1469 in the village of Talwandi, now Nankana Sahib, in the Punjab region of India. His parents were Kalu Mehta, a village accountant, and Mata Tripta, a simple and pious woman.
